colour my dresser

hi all...

well as the weather has turned horrible around these parts ( i've even stopped putting the fake tan on. i mean whats the point when im covered up in cardies and jeans and socks again!) so ive been in the house an awful lot.. this is fatal to be honest as i start to notice all the niggly things that need doing.. the hand prints all over the walls and the general wear and tear of the house ..and my giddy aunt there is so much from roof down that needs doing its driving me mad !!

alas funds have been a little low so Ive just had to grin and bear it when all i really want to do is just go to home base and buy tins upon tins of paint!..
anyways by next week all funds should be straightened out and that means decorating again YAY i say !!.. BOOO says the hubby!!

so whats been driving me mad at the minute is the dresser in the kitchen.. i painted it what i thought was sage green ..but its so pale that it could pass for dirty white i reckon!..

also since being in the kitchen its been knocked about a bit and is looking a bit sorry for itself.. you know even with my good intentions my painting always comes out slapdash!!..

so i thought i would give it a re paint as it does seem rather drab ..but I'm just not sure what colour to do it.. the walls are pale blue .. and the sink cabinet cupboard fronts are white..

do i paint it white.. or cream or another colour.. it is only a smallish kitchen as you can see

so it needs to be something rather bright as i think a very dark colour would just drain the room of any light!!...

what do you think ?.. what would you do ! .. how would you colour my dresser.. ??

  1. I would paint it white,a nice Farrow and Ball one,as I think all your china would 'pop' on a white dresser and it would stand out against your lovely blue walls.Whatever you choose,I'm sure it will be lovely in your gorgeous kitchen! :0)

  2. If it were me I'd go for a chalky bluebell colour. With all your pretties I don't think it would look dark and make a nice constrast to the other things in your gorgeous kitchen. xxx

  3. I'd go for a pink or maybe a light yellow colour. I think yellow goes beautifully with blue.

  4. I agree with the pink or the green of your utility crockery. It would stand out enough but still tone with your other things like your blind!

  7. A pale blue or a white?

    Very pretty kitchen.

Not sure if anyone else has problems but I find the colour pink of the font on the blue background really difficult to read.

  9. I'd be tempted to go pink ( you might need to have words with the Mr first! ). I think your kitchen's great and really, I think any pastel will work with your colour scheme.
If you have the time, and the inclination, I'd love you to visit my new-ish blog and tell me what you think! X

  10. The colour is Cornforth F&B it is a lovely shade but looks different in each room we have used it! My Katie has used it in Fin's nursery and it looks paler than the little floral bedroom. I love your dresser and shelf, I much prefer a kitchen that looks like a proper used kitchen rather than one of those empty looking ones! yours is homely and welcoming.

  11. oooohhh I would paint it a pale yellow keep with all your pretty pastel shades. It would pick up the blue really well and set of your pinks ;-)) What ever you chose it will look lovely i am sure. Good luck with the painting, dee x

  14. I think your kitchen looks utterly perfect as it is, I really do. It has a real vintage feel to it, very 1950s, and I just love it :) xxx
