a little lampshade lovin!

meet my new friend larry the lamp !!!!


i bought this sweet little lamp in 2 parts really!

i was in a charity shop in town the other week and i spotted the pretty little shade for 69p, i quickly put it on the counter to pay for it before anyone else spotted it!!

then when we were away last week i saw the base in another little charity shop, i saw it on the first day that we had a look round but i didnt get it as i thought do i really need it, but then i rememberd that i had bought the shade and it would look lovely with it.. so on our last day i went back and didnt expect to find it but there it was waiting for me to give it a home!!

it was only £1.80 so all in all it cost me £2.49!!!

anyways i think im a little bit in love with this lamp!!

i just think its soo pretty and i love the fact that if i fancy a change i could probably paint the base and it would still look pretty...

im still looking for a home for it in the house.. much to hubbys amusement who had told me that we really didnt need any more lamps in the house.. ( when does that matter though really!!)

do you think im a bit saddo for loving a lamp or do you get were im coming from haha!!

Summer Holiday

hi all

well i feel like Ive not posted for such a long time but i think its only been about a week or so but in blog times that's ages!

anyways last week we set off for four days in a little cottage in criccieth in wales

it was such a lovely place. it had the feel of a lovely french fishing village ( even though Ive never stayed in a french fishing village!) so calm and peaceful, not to touristy but enough to do so that you didn't get bored!

we stayed in a beautiful little cottage that was about five minutes walk from the town centre

it had a lovely feel to it and i think that was down to the fact that it felt like a well loved little cottage and not just a dank dark holiday let. It had beautiful furniture and had a really well kept feel to it!



i don't think this picture really does the room justice but it had such a lovely cosy warm feeling and it had exactly the same cast iron fireplace that i have in my bedroom except that the cottages had a perfectly restored one in black and not a very carelessly painted one in pink!

there was tons of stripped pine to the house and a beautiful tiled hallway floor
it really was a shabby chic kinda house with lots of nooks and crannys!



we had such a lovely time that Ive been left with restless legs now.. I'm sat in work and really don't want to be there

there is is a great pebbly beach which my oldest loved to explore for crabs etc with his daddy..there was a couple of charity shops and a gorgeous shop that stocked all sorts of lovely house goodies. i really could see myself living here!

there was even a shop in the next town that had a gorgeous shop full of Emma bridgewater goodies and cath kidston towels etc
so for now we are going to have to settle for perhaps a few days away or a week at the most and enjoy it and who knows maybe in a few years time once the babies have got a bit older we might be able to get a little holiday bolt hole..who knows!!!!

i bought a few goodies from the charity shops ( they even have one that's open on a Sunday that's more than enough reason to move don't you think!) but alas our digital camera got broke so cant take any more piccies with it at the moment..once i do I'll show you what we bought!

also just to thank little gem for my awards..Ive never had one before so am feeling rather thrilled from it!.
I'm not sure how i go about sending them to people so until i do please enjoy them from my blog !!!

Are these actions normal!!!???

i am on a diet.. have been for the past few weeks as i really want to feel good in the summer months

so why oh why was i desperate to bake fairy cakes first thing this morning!!

i wasn't starting work until 10.30, the hubby had taken the boys to the in laws which is were they go on a Wednesday when I'm in work and i had from 8.00 am onwards to myself..

did i lounge on the sofa watching a bit of gmtv, perhaps joining in with Mr motivator with exercise, did i go and have a nice long leisurely bath and just chill out before the madhouse of work ????

oh no.. i kept on my spider man tshirt that i wear for bed..stuck my jeans on and ran round to the shop for eggs and sugar!!!!!!

i don't know what come over me.. i just felt the need to bake cakes, cakes that i cant even eat!!!!

this was what my kitchen looked like when i should have been getting ready for work!!

i thought i would leave the icing until i finished work, as i really was running out of time this morning

i have been dying to get home, put the babies to bed and then get on with my cake decorating all day!!..

honestly do you think i have gone a little bit mad.. has all the lettuce I'm eating sent me a tad loopy.. i think so!

anyways here are the finished results... they actually look like my two year old has decorated them.. i just don't have the knack of making them look like others do..but who cares!!

there is chocolate butter cream, lemon flavoured yellow butter cream and good ol pink butter cream all decorated with chocolate chunks or hundreds and thousands!!





theres tons of them.. think hubby will have to take some into work with him and I'll dish the rest out to anyone who comes to the house.. "hello Mr postman..please eat one of my cakes!!!"

i have to admit my finger has been in the bowl a couple of times to try the butter cream..only for research reasons mind!!.. i have to make sure the butter icing tastes correct!!




I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the need to make fairy cakes am i!

right lets move on now, as I'm starving!

i bought this lovely plant holder from the charity shop and i think it will go perfect in my living room either on my side table or on my mantelpiece, only i don't know what type of plant to put in it.. I'm thinking more of one that drapes down if you know what i mean!..



I'm rubbish at buying plants though, never know what to look for, could you give me some tips please!!

also picked up this picture at the same time.. I'm going to change the frame as this one is a bit rammy and add this to my collection of pics that I'm going to put up in the lounge once i get enough! i love the pinks and creams in it, very pretty..almost good enough to eat...oh eck theres my stomach rumbling again!!!!!!!

well I'm off to watch Big Brother.. what are your thoughts about it this year.. it does really attract the cream of the crop doesn't it !!!!

morning sunshine

i am so loving these beautiful summer mornings now.. although just watching the gmtv weather they have said that's it now for the next week or so..boohoo... i am such a nicer person when its sunny!
the sun makes everything feel better in my opinion, everything looks brighter and lovelier don't you think
i always think white bedlinen is the best when its hot outside it looks fresh and clean and feels lovely to sleep in,
i bought a lovely set from homebase of all places a couple of months ago but haven't used it until now, it was half price which was probably why i bought it in the first place
its so lovely though i hadn't realised how pretty it was






its so vintage looking i think,
like something that you would find in Granny's linen wardrobe! the detail is gorgeous,
so I'm going to have to look after this one.. no eating chocolate ice cream in bed don't want any spillages on this!!
you know i really must get some new pillows they look rubbish dont they like biscuits..i do like a plumped up pillow!!

i was sat on my bed before thinking how lovely my bedroom feels when its sunny.. last year it was that horrible putty colour and it just felt so drab, now its the lovely blue it feels so fresh, the only thing is i hardly get a chance to sit and enjoy it!
in the day I'm either at work or looking after the two boys and then come evening I'm either pottering around downstairs or i just get straight into bed and go to sleep!
so thought id take a few moments to look out my window whilst sitting on my lovely comfy bed!




its lovely you know because even though we live in a terrace and don't have an actual back garden the houses opposite do have gardens and they face our house so i do get to look at lots of pretty plants and flowers without actually having to put any work in!!

ooh another thing about the warm days and nights that I'm enjoying is .. you can hang your washing out at 9pm the night before and leave it over night and then its dry for you in the morning.. how much washing can you get done..its great isn't it!
