FRIDAYS FROCKS

this weeks Friday frock is an outfit i wore this week for the school run!!

i find this time of year is quite difficult in thinking of what to wear.. its getting warmer and i tend to feel a right tramp wearing my winter coat, but then don't want to start wearing summer clothes to soon as by the time its properly warm to wear them you're already sick of the sight of them to!

well it was a lovely sunny morning and i fancied popping on a nice pretty dress..

so i picked this dress out of the wardrobe that Ive only worn a couple of times..

i think because it is a nude/taupey colour it doesn't look particularly summery so doesn't look silly worn with black opaques ( which was what i wore with it. .it might have been sunny but these mornings still have a right chill to them and purple legs are not a good look!)

i love this pretty old vintage dress.. bought from the charity shop at £2 59 it really was a little bargain.. i love the detail on the front

and on the sleeves

and then along the hem.. i mean lace and floral what more do you need in a dress.!!

like i say i popped on my black tights and then these cute Chanel style ballerina pumps primark but via the charity shop for £1.99..

i wore my heavy knit cardy that was full price from river island ..

( bought last year though and it has been worn many times so it has paid for itself now i feel!) which colour belongs to the same family of colours like a taupey shade.. i love the button detail on the pockets..

its a lovely snuggly cardie and as its rather thick i don't need to wear a coat..

then just a little accessory.. a rather large flower in the hair.!!

but what is the ultimate accessory for today's yummy mummy... a screaming toddler in a buggy of course!!!

FRIDAYS FROCKS

this is more of a Friday night frock ... and theres no frock but for the first time jeans are making an appearance!!

i live in jeans .. i am actually in need of some new jeans now as one pair has got paint all over them and my other pair are actually to small ( eek diet time again me thinks!) .. so at the minute i only have one pair of skinny jeans that are half decent!

so as its a Friday night i thought i would show an outfit that i might . .( given half the chance!) wear if i was going out for the evening.. Ive always thought Friday nights tend to be the more casual of the weekend .. well in my hey day it was. i would wear jeans or trousers on a Friday and then the little dress would come out on a Saturday!

i picked up this top from the charity shop this week £2.99

i love it... the nude shade makes for a great background to the black floral pattern..

its buttoned up the back and has the same lovely button detail on the cuffs..

its also a little bit floaty so covers a multitude without looking like mama cass in a kaftan!

teamed with my straight leg jeans which are dotty p's but i bought them from the charity shop £3.99
they are a lovely fit, quite flattering on actually which is always a bonus!

now i would have to wear these beauties .. eeeek i bought these this week as a treat to myself .. don't you think they are just gorgeous ..

and guess what they are really comfy as well .. i think its the platform that makes them so comfy..

these were from NEXT and did actually cost me £25 but i feel as they will go with so many things that they are bound to pay for themselves in the end!!
i just think the colour goes perfect with the top and as they are so fantastically high and gorgeous they instantly glam up any outfit!!

to add hint of sparkle but not to much Ive topped the outfit off with a necklace that i bought on our honeymoon in Greece ..

add to it a vintage clutch bag that i found in our loft not long after we had moved in and I'm ready to go..

just need to order the taxi and put on my lipstick...

reality ... I'm just running a bath and am going to read the latest Maeve Binchy whilst enjoying a very large glass of rose!!...

FRIDAYS FROCKS

this weeks Friday frocks for me is very reminiscent of the 1940s land girls look with a twist!!!
my bright teal midi length skirt that doesn't look very bright on the pictures due to my pants camera that I'm having to use at the minute!..

the material is quite thick which is great as its still rather nippy isn't it. and because of the weight of the material it is slightly a-line with two kick pleats in the front as well which is most flattering when you're having a jabba the hut day!
charity shop £3.99
i love this blouse not only has it got the sweetest pattern

but its got floaty little sleeves and a peter pan collar.. what is not to like about it ..

and i love how the teal in the blouse really matches the skirt..this is a primark blouse via the charity shop £2.99
add to this a little vintage cardi £1.49 navy blue with the cutest buttons..
teamed with a little belt from Primark already tied in a bow £2.00
add some cute little navy shoes with the sweetest bow on the front.. also primark ..bought these last year.. think they cost about £12..nothing to expensive!
oh and while this post has been a sponsored by primark outfit .. I'll finish it off with a rose pattern ring from primarni itself.. £2.50. goes with everything i have to say!!

i always get compliments when i wear this outfit.. i think its the colour of the skirt which really is bright and cheery and its a very feminine outfit i have to say.. but i do always feel a bit like i should be holding up posters with the slogan "dig for victory" or something along those lines when i wear it !!.

FRIDAYS FROCKS

when i first saw this weeks Friday frocks advertised on eBay it initially reminded me of Florence Welch from Florence and The Machine.. you know all floaty and Lacy and a little bit whimsical ..
( not actual pic of me in dress but fabulous Flo herself!!!)

oo don't you just love that word .. whimsical.!!
so anyway back to the dress..
so yes this is an eBay number £8.99
it is actually shorter than i thought it was .. i did think it was more maxi in length but its actually more midi.. which i find is quite a hard length to pull off if you don't want to look like Great Aunt Mavis on a bus trip with her friend Joan from the Post office..!!.. i.e you want to attain to the vintage style without adding a vintage age to you!!.

added a thin plaited leather belt from Primark £1.00

and wear thick black opaques to give it more of an edgier look.. if cream and lace and bows can actually be called edgy!
teamed with my vintage Bertie leopard print shoes .. charity shop £2.99

i love the little cone heel on these and even thought they must be how old they look modern ..

now as its still rather chilly you cant be walking around with exposed arms and shoulders so Ive put my little vintage velvet jacket that i won on eBay and because the seller hadn't said it was velvet or even velvet effect so no one was bidding on it so i got it for £3.99.

.i love the ribbon edging and the big gold buttons.. and its lovely and warm so what more do you want from a jacket
add a leopard print silk scarf .. charity shop 50p

tied in a nice pussy bow for that lady like look!!..

oh and a nice big slouchy bronze coloured bag £1.99 charity shop .. when i got home i found a pound in its pocket so really only cost me 99p!!

anyways enough about me.. were are all these Friday frocks that i was promised.. i feel like a bit of a billy no mates here come on get your frocks out!!

**** i know a few of you have said you want me to photograph myself in my outfits.. at the minute i am feeling like a right heffer.. so wouldn't want you to be put off eating!!.. promise as soon as the needle on the scales starts moving to the left i will take pics.. just don't feel confident at the min!! ****

FRIDAYS FROCKS

this weeks Friday frocks post is a little bit inspired by the Mike Leigh play/film/drama whatever you call it.. "Abigails party"..
i don't know why but the dress itself reminds me of the play... even though its nothing like the dress that Alison Steadman wore i can just picture the era and the housewife wearing this as she sashays around her house party making gin and tonics for everyone!!

i bought the dress from a local charity shop for £4.99...
a glamorous floor length brown maxi dress that can be dressed up with heels or worn with flat roman sandals in the summer very versatile dress i had to have it for economy reasons if nothing else!!
the sequins caught my eye immediately as they would .. there is a lot of them!

but on closer inspection i loved the little lattice detail and the velvet bow to..

the chiffon long sleeves add a lighter touch so the dress doesn't appear to heavy looking...

teamed with a variety of thin and chunky gold bangles all bought from charity shops or Primark specials!!

no self respecting hostess would be seen without her heels so Ive put these sky scraper leopard print peep toe platforms bought from a local shoe shop with the dress.. adds a fun touch with the leopard print and stops it all becoming a block colour as well i think...

i love this dress.. i love knowing i have something like this in my wardrobe.. haven't had the chance to wear it yet.. hoping to hold a party over the coming months were I'm sure it will make its first outing and i'll be heard to say "nother gin Tone!!" ...

FRIDAYS FROCKS

This is the outfit i wore on my day out on Wednesday,

i love this little dress.. its an ebay buy.. vintage Betty Barclay.. £3.99

theres so much that i love about this dress, the little lace stand up coller, the frill detail that is on the front and back, and the tiny floral pattern..

i wore my charity shop cord jacket £5.99

a scarf from the charity shop that kept me nice and warm.. 99p

my battered brogues from Primark.. ( so comfy but so heels are wreaked . need to get a new pair really ..

i wear them with everything) £13

my navy blue bag from the charity shop 99p

i would normally wear a brighter colour pair of tights like dark pink or red with this outfit but they had ladders in so i just put a pair of navy tights on but still looked effective!
